Since its inception in 1991, the Westside Mental Health Provider Network has experienced tremendous growth in membership as well as expanding its referral base.  Word-of-mouth networking has brought treatment providers together from numerous and varied programs and facilities throughout California and around the country.  The Spring Westside Mental Health Provider Network luncheon was held on May 29, 2008 and welcomed several new treatment providers.  Four cosponsors joined Life Adjustment Team in sponsoring the event:  Andreini & Company and Philadelphia Insurance Co.; Turning Point Support Team, Exodus Treatment Centers; and Abundant Life and Adolescent Growth, who has cosponsored the event several times!     

The Life Adjustment Team founder and Executive Director Pete Linnett remembers the first Westside Network Luncheon attended by six mental health providers, an idea that began as a way to build a referral system that would not only be efficient and accessible, but would also be more personal and familiar.

Network members enjoyed lunch while LAT’s Administrative Director, Cynthia Sampson, called upon each of the providers to give a brief overview of the program and facility they were representing, including services offered, funding sources and contact information.  As Cynthia reminded everyone, “Knowing who to call, not just where to call, expedites access to available services and has a major impact on being able to quickly connect consumers, families and health care professionals.”  A literature table was also available with the most up-to-date information and business cards were exchanged.
