Our Mission
The U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Mental Health states that
only one-third of Americans with a diagnosable mental disorder actually
receive mental health services in an average one year period.
In the fifteen years I have worked in the field of mental health, I
have seen how profoundly the absence of treatment or low quality of
care can impact the life of a person afflicted with a mental illness,
as well as the lives their friends and family. However, since I began
working with The Life Adjustment Team eight years ago, I have been
privileged to be a part of a Team dedicated to developing and implementing
programs that empower clients to overcome their challenges and reintegrate
into their families and community, forging ever stronger ties with
their loved ones.
Mental health issues affect everyone. Most of us can say that we know
someone who is directly affected by, or related to someone challenged
with mental illness. The Life Adjustment Team is on the forefront
of mental health advocacy in several venues:
- Participation in the national campaign to de-stigmatize mental
illness
- Lobbying to change legislation that limits access to treatment
- Providing an educational format to inform people of current
advancements in treatment
- Offering state-of-the-art rehabilitation services from intensive
outpatient programs to crisis consultations and referral service
Whether you are a consumer, family member, friend
or professional, it is essential that we all work together to find
practical solutions, share ideas, and bring about the necessary
changes to make quality mental health care a reality for every person
who needs it.
If you have questions or comments, or just need some direction or
referrals, please give me a call. We take pride in being of service
to the mental health community and have a vast network of resources
and practical solutions we will gladly share with anyone in need.
