OUR FIFTH PASADENA MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS NETWORK LUNCHEON

In just three years, the Pasadena Mental Health Provider Network has nearly tripled its number of providers, as was evident at the fifth network luncheon held on May 15,2008 at the Rococo Room at Cafe Santorini.  The idea of forming a Pasadena Network had been highly anticipated by local providers since the Life Adjustment Team opened an office there in March of 2005.  Support for the Network was evident when more than 25 people attended the first Pasadena Luncheon in January 2006.  The May 22nd, 2007 luncheon had the largest turnout ever, with over 50 providers in attendance!

Network luncheons have been extremely valuable in raising the level of awareness of the many diverse services offered to consumers and their families in the mental health community.  Effective communication and a broad-based referral system are integral to community-based treatment.  Providers are able to share up-to-date information on programs and services available while promoting a more personal interaction among professionals. “Being able to put a face to a name when talking to another provider on the phone definitely makes it easier to refer consumers and their families to the appropriate services,” explains Pete Linnett, founder and Executive Director of the Life Adjustment Team, who originally started the network concept on the Westside in 1991.

The Pasadena luncheon was co-sponsored by Pasadena Recovery Center, Insight Treatment Programs, Clearview Treatment Programs and Life Adjustment Team.  Chris Linnett, Life Adjustment Team Pasadena Regional Director, kicked off the two-hour event by introducing the network providers who each gave a brief overview of the facility or program they represented, the services provided, funding sources, and contact names and numbers. In addition to this presentation, providers exchanged literature and business cards.

We are always interested in developing more co-sponsors for future luncheons.  The continued success of the network depends on key providers taking the initiative to help expand the network and bring the best mental health care to the community.  For information or details, please contact Cynthia, who coordinates the luncheons and whose hard work and expertise have made them possible and successful.  The next Pasadena Network Luncheon is scheduled for May 2009.
